What a fabulous first day! We began the day with a very moving convocation ceremony. You can’t help but be inspired when 300 children are gathered in groups by their graduating year. If I travel back in time remembering my elementary school days, images of friends, influential teachers, challenges that stretched and grew me, life lessons that shaped me and strengthened who I am~ these memories flash before me and inspire me as I consider the many courageous journeys that lie ahead for your children; this year and in life!
We dove right into reflections on mathematics! It is important that I not only know where your child is academically, but how they feel about each subject. I am committed to challenging them, encouraging them, building confidence in them, and providing them with the support they need to be successful! They also had their first Spanish class with Tiffany Hippe, our new Spanish teacher. (I was so impressed with their skill!)
And, of course, we had lots of first-day-fun! Bingo with Ms. Fitz’s class, a beautiful story called The Memory String by Eve Bunting (see homework assignment that went home today, due Friday), a sweet assembly with Mr. Hamilton-Vale as he read about a school’s first day of school, and the ice cream social! Whew! We were busy!
I am so honored to be a part of your lives and your children’s education! Cheers to a wonderful year!
